The purpose of this list shall be to discuss the teaching of language arts and the use of technology to promote teaching of language arts in classrooms across the state. We seek to improve our networking ability and use of technology as a means to stimulate professional development, encourage open dicsussion, circulate infomation about educational trends and findings.

ECE 453 Leads Group

This list is going to be used to communicate with a class whose course goal is to develop and implement a system of cameras -- both fixed and pivoting-- that are connected via a wireless mesh, all communicating back to a central center. The purpose of the system is to utilize vehicle recognition software to identify and/or track cars based upon a set of criteria, like going faster than 25mph. The entire class discusses the correct course of action, splits tasks, and works together to complete the overall goal, and as such, I am hoping to be able to communicate easily with the different teams that we have broken up into -- this particular group is for the group leads and myself, the class lead.

List for bioinformatics students (English and Italian languages). This list is about bioiformatics from a student point of view. Bioinformatics is a relatively new technology, which use computer science to solve biology problems. Today bionformatics is very important for the biotech industries in many fields of technology like developing new drugs. The main topic of discussion will be: coding in Perl or other languages commonly used to solve problems in bionformatics, using tools like BioPerl to access biological database, development or use of tools for bioinformatics freely available in Internet. The topic of the list is restricted exclusively to free software, i.e. software without any restriction to the accessibility of the source code.

Sundarvan_CEE

Sundarvan is a nature discovery centre located at the heart of Ahmedabad city, Gujarat, India. It is an activity of Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Ahmedabad, which is a Centre of Excellence of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India. Sundarvan�s activities with children and youth act as a catalyst and stimulate the process of inquiry into nature. Recognized as a mini-zoo, it has a collection of reptiles, birds and small mammals. A very popular place with children and youth, Sundarvan receives nearly 100,000 visitors annually. This nature discovery centre was inaugurated by Dr. Salim Ali, the well-known ornithologist, on 28th October, 1978. Nature trail and snake ecology awareness programmes are regularly held for visitors at Sundarvan. Bird watching and other Environment education programmes are also conducted for various groups on request. Through these field activities, people are exposed to the therapeutic influences of outdoor living. These activities provide practical experiences of living in natural surroundings and instill basic values that promote harmonious interactions with elemental nature. For schools specifically designed one day programmes are an excellent tool for introducing, understanding and reaffirming many environmental concepts that go beyond the scope of textbooks.
