Scripts add functionality but you don't need them to do a lot with audacity.
That is not to say you shouldn't use them. it's to say that you can use
resources like a good guide or tutorial that don't use scripts and aren't JAWS
specific. I did a tutorial many years ago that covers much basic use
information for Audacity and Mp3 Direct Cut. It is one presentation I did for
Accessible World. New features have been added to audacity since then and I
didn't cover subjects such as selecting tracks.
I also either made a mistake or stated something that is no longer true. I'm
not sure if it ever was but I thought so, for some reason. I said that you had
to save a recording to edit it. As far as I know, that isn't true.
You can download the tutorial here:
http://www.accessibleworld.org/sites/default/files/tt-03-19-12-tutorial-gene-asner-audacity-and-mp3-cut.mp3
I would imagine you'll want to know more but this may make initial learning
easier than using the manual or the JAWS guide that has been discussed, though
you may want to use those resources later.

Generally speaking, Audacity is quite accessible with JAWS. I
believe there's a guide somewhere specifically for JAWS users,
but don't know the URL (someone, please tell the list). The
standard Audacity manual also has useful information, though it
may not be as helpful.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Audacity accessibility
Hello,
My name is Saylor and I'm sending this email because I need some
assistance with learning audacity and making it accessible with
Jaws. I will be starting a radio broadcasting program in a
couple of weeks and therefore I will need this program. I
googled Jaws scripts for audacity and found the github.com
contains some tutorials and download links. However the download
links don't seem very accessible. I would greatly appreciate
some help on getting started with this program.
Sincerely,
Saylor Cooper
