Hi David,
possibly you had a later version than 2.1.1 running on your mac. If so, try the
following:
1. close all windows by pressing cmd-w, until the cursor is located on your
desktop on the mac.
2. press cmd-shift-g and type the following in the edit-field:
~/library/application support/audacity. Confirm with enter.
3. select all files and folders in the audacity-folder by pressing cmd-a and
delete them with cmd-backspace.
4. close the now empty folder with cmd-w. Now the cursor should be located on
the desktop again.
5. Press cmd-shift-a to enter your program-folder. Find the accessible version
of audacity in there and launch it with cmd-o.
Now the software should start as expected. I’m also running audacity here on my
macbook pro with hi sierra 10.13.3, and it is working normal.
Good luck and best.
Michael
