Hi Claire
The short answer is yes. Press control-p to go to Preferences and k to go to
Keyboard. Once you have familiarised yourself with the layout, you will find a
whole treasure-trove of goodies. You can view by name of the action or by key
assignments and the choice will depend on circumstances. The search facility
can be very helpful in locating a particular action or key combination.
There are literally hundreds of actions for which shortcuts can be set. As you
will see, by no means all have keys assigned by default.
It is a matter of finding the action whose shortcut you want to change, tabbing
to the relevant field and pressing the new key and then tabbing to Set and
pressing spacebar.
Especially if you want to make major changes, it is worth exporting the new
layout as an XML file. When Audacity is updated, you can then import the
modified layout rather than having to go through the reassigning process again.

Subject: [audacity4blind] Customising Audacity shortcuts
Hi all, I am asking this question on behalf of a friend. She is trying to use
audacity to do some editing, but struggles to use her hands so finds it a
little difficult to get to the left and right brackets to select her audio. She
wants to know, is it possible for the Audacity shortcuts to be customised so
that she can select audio to be deleted with the same shortcuts as what she
would use with Word?
