Good morning,
The fastest way to do this is to select the entire track by hitting Jay, shift
K. Then using truncate.
Press alt see for your exact menu then tea for Tryon Kate.
You will see several edit fields along with a combo box leave most of this as
the default but in the third edit field, change it to one or two seconds by
typing 1.0 or 2.0. Then simply hit enter and the silence is will be reduced to
one or two seconds. This should be much more manageable for you.

Hi List
I imported a mp3 file into Audacity. There is a long silence at the start of
the track which I want to remove.
Do I need to place a right bracket at the start of the track to mark the
section I want to remove?
I pressed the spacebar to start listening. When I heard the click of the
beginning of the recording I pressed spacebar before pressing shift f6 to
skip about 2 minutes of silence.
When I pressed the spacebar to listen whether or not I'm at the spot where
the actual audio starts there was still just silence.
How can I specify the time to be removed faster to save some time?
If this is a clumsy description I hope the more experienced folks will be
able to make sense of it all. I tried to find the answer in the manual but am
still too dumb to fully understand what the manual is explaining to me,
smiles.
