I give a very short answer, you can always elaborate on this.
- if you use an audio interface or an USB mic or a turntable with a
gain/volume knob, use that, and set the input level in Audacity to 100
%.
- for internal mic etc., adjust the input level in Audacity.
The rest should be made clear from the audio tutorial.

whole track. That can be useful when balancing levels of different tracks.
Amplify will also do that if you wish, but you can also adjust the level of
a selection. One benefit of using amplify is that Audacity will let you
know the current level.

First, I am trying to wrap my mind around things I dont know I dont know
about audio and recording.
I have tested the use of recording in the Simple, multi-track and none modes
and it all is working as described in the accessibility guide and, or,
other documents to add tracks listening to overdubbing.
I am ready to set my recording and playback levels during continued learning
and testing.
Do you know the diferences between the Gain and Recording Volume usage by
Audacity...
I understand the concepts of gain and playback volume to be something
like;
Gain was, on muy old analog amp, the input volume prior to any effects or
driver processing.
Thus turning it up enough caused over driving the amps processing system and
thus the first guitar distortion for the early players.
We then used the (playback?) volume to manage the actual loudness of the
output signal to the speakers as I understand these concepts.
Is there any diference in tonal modulations or impact diferences on plugin
effects when using gain or the Recording slider settings in Audacitys
digital handling of these settings?
