Hi,

I was sent a Spanish translation for the JAWS scripts, translated by Fernando Gregoire. To include it, I need to add the ability for the installer to deal with JAWS installations with multiple languages. It's been a long long time since I've dealt with this, so some help would be appreciated.

First, can a single installation of a version contain a script folder for more than one language? I.E. can there be more than one folder under settings, say settings\enu and settings\es (or whatever it is for Spanish)? BTW: does anyone happen to know what it is for Spanish?

If so:

Are all of the script files, even the ones that don't change, installed in each language folder?

Do people often have multiple languages installed?

In my thinking I have been assuming that you can have multiple languages installed. I've thought of a couple of ways to implement this in the installer.

1) Add another page to the installer for language selection. The selected languages would be installed to selected versions that have that language installed.

2) Add an entry in the versions list for each version/language pair. This would avoid the need for adding another page to the installer UI but would make the list long if someone had several languages installed.

3) Install to all supported languages installed for a selected version. This wouldn't require a change to the installer UI but wouldn't allow the user as much control.

I have to install my copy of JAWS 16, at which time I can investigate the installer, so will be able to find out answers to some of these questions, but any help from people familiar with using JAWS in a language other than English would be appreciated.

BTW: I have code in my development version that silences speaking of the Preview button and the record and and Append Record keystrokes. I've been holding off releasing until I implement something to handle support for multiple languages.

Thank you.

Gary
