Windows WASAPI is still alive and well. There was a change several versions
ago in which the default behaviour can make it tricky to find where to select
the host. Here is how to find it and following these steps are notes on
putting it back the way it used to be if you would prefer that. Using the
current default layout:
1. From the tracks view press ctrl+shift+f6
2. Press shift+tab five times. That will put you on the Audio Setup
button.
3. Press Enter (do not use spacebar).
You can then arrow up and down the various settings, including choosing the
host. Windows WASAPI will be there.
But if you prefer it the way it used to be:
1. Press alt+v to open the View Menu
2. Arrow down to Toolbars and press Enter
3. Arrow down to Device Toolbar and press Enter to check it. That will
show recording and playback devices, recording channels and host as before.
4. Optionally, you can turn off the Audio Setup Toolbar from the same menu.
Let us know if I have misunderstood your issue or if my instructions are not
clear.
Andrew

Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: Latest version
I have the latest version of Audacity 3.3.3. However, I can no longer record
sound from my computer. I can record my vocals through my Logitech microphone.
Unfortunately, I can no longer find "Windows WASAPI." Is there an issue with
the latest version? Thanks for any help!
NOTE: I use the WINDOWS magnifier on a 40-inch monitor.
Best Regards,
R Bryan Anthony

Hi all,
Just curious on thoughts re the new version.
Most importantly the data security.
Still unsure if I will install it as yet.
Thanks
