1. Go to Preferences, CTRL+P.
2. In the Devices tab, chang the first option to Wasapi and change the
Record Input to Stereo Mix.
3. Click Ok.

Hi Judy

I can tell you the procedure for Windows, if this is the OS of your laptop:
1. Shift+H
Choose the host --> Wasapi
2. Shift+I
Choose Recording Device -> "Speaker" + >your audio device name> + "(Loop
back)"
3. Record
4. On error, check the sample rate settings, both in Audacity and the
control panel (enter e.g. "Sound" in the start menu search box)

I hope that helps.

Cheers
Robert

Hello, Folks,

I am a novice with Audacity, but really like it.  I have used it mostly
for
transposing keys of songs when needed, but I would like to start
recording
from my laptop.  I tried to record by hitting the record button in the
menu,
but the computer mic was being used rather than recording the audio from
the
computer.  Can you please tell me how to set up so I am recording from
the
software and not the computer's mic?

Thanks.

Judy
