Hi Iván
No, I doubt that you have deleted the section before the deleted section. It
is just that by deleting you have moved the cursor to the point where playback
now starts. If you press j you will return the cursor to the start of the
track.
I have recorded some audio tutorials on using Audacity which you can find at
https://www.sendspace.com/folder/xusytz. The two that are most relevant right ;
now are audacity-intro.mp3 And audacity-navigation.mp3. The Audacity intro is
a few years old, but should help you with editing material. The Audacity
Navigation is only a couple of weeks old and is so new that no one has yet
reported errors (smile).

Hi folks!
Now thanks to your kind contribution it seems to be working. A problem still is
that however it plays the preview and then I can delete the section but
afterwards the playback starts from the end of the deleted section. Seemingly I
delete somehow not only the selected section but the whole section before the
selected one. A real mistery!
In the long run I must find a way to select the part properly in order to
extend or shrink its limits if necessary.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

That’s what I expect when editing in Audacity.
Enjoy!

wrong?
Hi guys,
I tried it with Jaws & the script & it seems to work.
No feedback while its playing though
I hit the left bracket where I wanted to start, it keeps playing then
I hit right bracket where I wanted to end.
It kept on playing.
I pressed space to stop it then space again & it just played the part
I selected.

Hi Iván
Greetings from Australia. I suspect you were unlucky rather than
doing anything wrong. I just followed your steps and it worked as it
should. I use NVDA rather than JAWS and do not get feedback when
pressing left bracket. I just tried with a demonstration copy of JAWS
and also did not get feedback. Are you running a JAWS script for
Audacity? Something seems to be changing behaviour on your machine.
Note that pressing Enter and control+a do different things. Enter
selects the track but no audio on the track, which is fine for what you are
doing.
Control+a selects all audio in the project which, for your task, is
Control+also
fine.
I rarely use p to pause but have confused myself on occasions when
using p and spacebar. However, pressing spacebar should ultimately
start playback from where you pressed left bracket.
Unless pressing spacebar plays the segment between where you pressed
left and right brackets, you have not selected what you want. By the
way, pressing control+z will undo. Therefore, if you delete the wrong
part, you can get it back again.
Let us know how you get on. I believe you are very close to conquering it.

Hi Group!
I am so glad I found you!
I am a Hungarian blind fellow having to do some corrections on audio
recordings. First of all select and delete parts of an audio.
I thought the easiest way to do it would be selecting the sections
during playback. I list below what I did. You’re free to tell me where
did I do wrong.
1. I opened the mp3 file
2. I selected the whole file tapping Enter or ctrl+A
3. I started to play the audio tapping space bar
4. At a certain point I ppushed left bracket. Jaws confirmed I selected
the left side limit of the selection
5. I stopped playback with space bar
6. I wanted to restart but neither space bar nor P didn’t react. I
pushed enter to select again and tapped space. The recording obviously
started from the start.
7. I tapped right bracket and jaws said what it had to say.
8. I tapped Del
9. A cutting happened from the very start of the recording. Awful.
Int he meantime I wanted tol isten the preview of the selected section
tapping C but nothing happened.
I know I committed loads of errors. But I don’t know which are the
correct steps. Maybe it is all about selecting badly. Any idea?
Thanks
Peter
