Easiest way to export just a small clip of a longer recording is to set
the start and end selection markers/boundaries and then from the file
menu, export selected audio.
To set the selection, you can do it during playback, using the [ and ]
keys, without stopping playback - import a track, and make sure it's all
selected, and then hit space bar to toggle playback - or you can use
those keys while it's stopped to bring up entry dialogues, or, you can
use ctrl + F6 to jump to the selection toolbar, and tab over to the
selection start and end entry elements, etc.
Also, when the track is highlighted, hitting space bar to toggle
playback will just play the selected part, to let you double check
selection, etc.

HI all,
My name is Andre Watson and I’m new to the list and audacity.
I used to use the sound recorder in windows 98 a long, long time ago, and am now trying to use audacity for things I used to like to do.
One thing I’m trying to do which I cannot figure out consistently is how to make sound bite clips from a favorite audio file. Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks,
