[audacity4blind] exporting as mp3

Hello everyone, First I would like to say that if you haven't seen me on the
list for a while this was because I have been recovering from a small surgery.
All is well. The question I have for today is this. I have a audacity project
which I want to export as a mp3. I load the project in Audacity, I go to file
export and then name the file set up the folder to save it in and then go to
the little combo box which is currently set to wave file. I use Voiceover
controls on my mac to move this down to MP3 Files, then double check it and it
still says mp3 files. then I save it and to my surprise it is saved as a wave
file. Ahhhhh! Can anybody help me figure this one out? Lol
