Thanks. That makes sense, but if they're unable to use the printed page, either because of vision or inability to turn the page, would the integrity of the printed page be important? I'm asking to gain knowledge.

Hi, Mickey! As Carrie said, Bookshare is also available to folks with disabilities that prohibit them from turning pages in a book. In addition, people with learning disabilities such as dyslexia can also use Bookshare. Hope this helps!

I forgot my main question. If Bookshare isn't being used strictly for the braille user or the speech user, for whom the double-dash makes sense, for whom are we working? If a person can read a book, why would that person use Bookshare? If that person can't use a book, why wouldn't he be pleased with what comes across best in speech or braille?

This did cause me to reflect on what our user population is, and if we're working for a specific population, why we aren't doing what's easiest for that population.

Not trying to start something--just looking for answers. Oh, that dash was a dash, not an m-dash. <grin>
