Corrie Ten Boom in The Hiding Place relates this incident: She was six years
old at the time, and her teacher read something in school relating to sex sin.
She asked her father what "sexin" was. Her father, a watchmaker, had a satchel
of tools, parts, and watches he carried with him on many of his trips. He told
her to pick up the satchel. "I can't," she replied. "That's how it is with some
knowledge," he said, "it is too heavy for a child; you will be able to carry it
when you are older and stronger." I know I didn't get the quotes just right,
but the point is still there.

I grew up hearing and knowing a lot of things a child shouldn't have to have to
hear and know; I hid in books for escape to worlds which were adventurous but
were what, softer around the edges.

As far as choice, the indication of adult content gives an indication of what
is in the book, and thus a standard for choice. Again, the NLS system does a
good job of that. Beyond that, our agreement or disagreement isn't the
question. The guidelines are there, and common sense should fill in those
guidelines.
