I doubt that we will see that because of problems with dividing up the
ratings. It might be possible though because the dichotomous rating
system of adult or not adult now relies on the personal judgement of
one or a very few people. However, do you really trust their
judgement. The X, R, PG and G ratings of movies are determined by a
very small panel and I, for one, have never trusted the judgement of
that small panel. What is R to one person may very well be X to
another. Another reason I dislike the movie rating system is because
it is used as and was even intended to be used as a form of
censorship. I am all for guides and ratings if it can be used to help
people to decide what they wish to see in a movie or read in a book,
but when those guides and ratings are used to prohibit anyone from
reading or viewing what they want because of their status or for most
any other reason I have a real problem with that. Imagine, you pick
out a book that you really want to read and then find it is
unavailable to you because of your age, or because you are a woman, or
because of your hair color or nationality or whatever. If you would be
prone to become indignant about that then you may be seeing my point.
