If you scan a ton as I do and have a scanner with a decent document
feeder, you may want to look into getting a book chopper. The semi
industrial oneused at Benetech is made by Martin Yale Corporation and is
around $700. I found a clone of this one made by QCM Corporation, called
the QCM 12. It can chop a stack of up to 250sheets of 20 pound paper. I
find it can cut through a 300 page book like a hot knife through butter.
The cost was around $250. If you are blind, you will likely need some help
with the assemblyof it as I did. Once assembled, it is easy to operate and
very safe. You could theoretically cut your self with it, but you could
only do so if really trying to. The blade is fully hidden right up to the
moment when you decide to cut the stack and you take deliberate action to do
so. Thanks.
