Hi Dan, and thanks. smile.Turning it into a 1-column page didn't work, which is what led me on this wild goose chase for column and section codes. The rtf was full of non-standard column codes and section codes that Word just couldn't recognize correctly or handle. smile.

Hmmm,Be careful. In Office you can define a page as multiple column. It you must change the column break control you then end up with side by side lines of text from each page following each other instead of making it a single column page.If you look through the formatting choices in the menu bar you should see a choice for cooumns. It will have the choice to make it a 1 column page. This will make the right side column follow the left column but below it.I hope this helps. If not let me know and I'll try to put together a step by step description.-------------------------------------------------- From: "Judy s." <cherryjam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, March 20, 2010 12:48 AM To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Any easy way in Word to convert book submitted as two-column rtf ?Finally got a chance to check this out, and the column breaks in that book were not a ^n . So I now have two weird codes that were in it, the section breaks that weren't found by the section break codes, and the column breaks, which weren't standard word column breaks. I did get all the formatting fixed another way, but I'd sure love to know what all those codes really were. Judy s. I started doing this because if I scan in two page mode and a page is very short, like the last page of a chapter, Omnipage tends to want to just skip that page for some reason. So I started scanning two pages in one page mode, and then Omnipage puts this nifty little column break in instead of a page break. This sounds to me like what Judy is encountering. If it is, then it should be easily replaced by replacing all ^n (a word column break) with the ^p^m^p (space page break space). If not then she's got a different kind of animal. -- Jamie in Michigan Currently Reading: Fantasy in Death by J.D.
