As you all know, when you submit a book, we autofill as much of the metadata as
possible, by using a third-party service. And if I change metadata, we use the
service then too.

After I filed the emergency ticket, one of the engineers said that the service
is having trouble and is up intermittently, which means that there's nothing
that Engineering can do right now. I suggested that the Bookshare system be
changed to bypass the service when it's down, so they are considering that
option. Will let you all know if I hear anything else.

In the meantime, there's nothing we can do. Sorry!

Carrie

Lori,
We will alert engineering if this continues.

Well, for the first time in my volunteer time with Bookshare I can't check in a
book.
First I get a message for about five minutes
"waiting for http/catalog.bookshare.org/bookcheckin"
And finally, I get the message

that either the site is under maintenance or has a programming error.

So I'll try this again later; three attempts definitely was not the charm.
