For me it also depends upon how bad the copy is. A book I took to validate 
because I knew it had recipes and I knew that would need sighted help just had 
too much junk in it. I spent 3 hours cleaning up just the first 50 pages of it 
and it was a 500 page book. 
   
  I rescanned the entire book in a second third hours, which is what I should 
have done with my first three hours.
  
Then I had a nice clean copy that will be easy for someone else to validate.
