[bksvol-discuss] Books to scan if anyone is interested

Hi folks,
A friend if mine is moving overseas and he has passed along around 100
paperbacks to me. He wondered if I knew of a charity that might be interested
in them and I said 'yes!'.
They mostly consist of westerns, science fiction/fantasy, and action
paperbacks. Most of these are seriously 'old school' - he's been accumulating
these for over 30 years. For example, there are many Zane Grey and J.T. Edson
westerns. There is Poul Anderson, John Norman & Arthur C Clarke sci fi/fantasy
- etc. I'm just now going through the two boxes he gave me to pull out the ones
that are already on Bookshare - so I've yet to see what else is in there.
My biggest problem is that I don't have a scanner - so I only validate. I
wondered if anyone would be interested in scanning any of these.
I'm more than happy to post groups of them out via media mail - or, if anyone
lives near Columbia MD, I'm happy to arrange dropping some off.
I should mention that some of these aren't in the best condition, so I don't
know how well they will scan. He doesn't care if they get destroyed in the
process of scanning.
I shall try to put together a full list of what's here, if enough people are
interested. Please feel free to contact me off-list if you want to discuss
shipping/logistical arrangements.
