Thanks, Kellie, the maximizing trick seems to work.  At least Windows
remembers and keeps the window maximized when I reload OE, although I have
not rebooted the computer after setting this.  We'll see what happens then.

Interestingly, the control-plus or control-minus don't seem to do anything
that I have observed - in Outlook Express at least.
