Chela, you completely misinterpreted what I wrote. I felt it was confusing
for my post about ellipses to be followed up with some sort of copied
website info explaining the supposedly proper usage for ellipses, as I was
simply sharing my personal experience remembered from grammar class. My
point, and the point of everyone posting in this thread, is that there seems
to be no single answer to this issue.
Please remember that it is difficult to interpret the emotion behind mere
words written in an email, and understand that no one here is trying to be
rude or offensive; rather, we're all trying to help each other out. Jumping
to conclusions about the intent of someone's message--and further, posting
about it to the entire list--does not help anyone at all. If you have any
issues with anything I write in the future, please contact me personally.
