Thanks Amanda,
I just want to mention that I am reading a couple of books that I have
scanned in which the em-dashes have already been replaced.
Also, there are some books that I have already prepared for proofreading
by others in which the em-dashes have already been replaced.
In other words, I hope the Approval Queue volunteers will be
understanding if they get books with double dashes in them for a little
while yet.
Thanks again.

Hello volunteer community!
I hope that you’re all having a great spring and that it’s starting to warm up for everyone. There has been some discussion in the past about what scanners and proofreads should do with “em-dashes” within the text of a book. Em-dashes are the long dash that you will often see in text.
A quick update for all: em-dashes (—) do not need to be converted and can stay as-is. Previously, we asked that all em-dashes be replaced with two dashes in a row. The Bookshare system now converts these correctly and you can take that off of your review to-do list! Let me know if there are questions.
Best,
Amanda
