Sure, Tracy, I know it. But sometimes the first fifty pages of the book can be salvageable, whereas the next bunch can't, or vice versa. I try to go through the book and make sure that it's beyond my expertise before I send it back, but some others seem to have no trouble with something I found mind-boggling. Sure I waste time that way, and maybe I could have made some educated guesses on some things, but there are those who are a lot more savvy than I, so I'll release, rather than reject. Besides, if someone rejects, there are always those second-guessing, and I don't need the hassle.

Thanks for the heads-up, though.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Fixing, then releasing

Mickey,
Something you said worries me. I just want to be sure you understand the
way things work. If you fix a book some, then release it, your fixes are
lost. It would be nice if they weren't, so the next guy to take the book
would have the benefit of your work, but that's not what happens. If you
fix a book, then release, you've wasted your precious time, I'm sorry to
say.
Which is why I try hard to determine if a book can be fixed, and, once
I've started fixing, I almost never give up until it's done. It's either
reject straight off, or fix to the end. I *hate* wasting my time.
Tracy
