Cindy, the lines of dashes preceeding print page numbers only show up in the Braille files, not in the Daisy files, so they won't be heard. They are added by the Braille translator. Every book since the Braille translator was upgraded has them.. Since Braile pages are of a different length from print pages, they are used to show where the old print page ends and the new one begins, rather than leaving a virtually blank line with a page number at the end of it in the middle of the Braille page.

I picked up the print book yesterday. There is an asterisk on each side of the page number. I've validated other books that have that; they come out not as asterisks but as various things, e.g., dashs, a black dot, some other mark--and usually not on both sides of the number. I always delete them and just leave the number. I assume that listeners or Braille readers wouldn't want those things. Is that something that happens in the conversion process to Braille? Or is it something that is supposed to be there? I haven't actually read the print book myself so I don't know what the print book looks like. I haven't read the book at all for that matter, smile, but I will soon now that I have the audio version.
