Actually I already bought and scanned Oscar Wao, but haven't had time to pre-validate it in order to put it on the download list. And if the truth be known, I have about 50 books that I've scanned but haven't pre-validated. Most of them have "gotcha's" here and there that someone without a copy of the book wouldn't be able to decipher. So they sit on the bookshelf gathering dust while I struggle to keep up with processing all the bestsellers and student requests, and helping out with my granddaughter. Luckily some interns are going to be hired for the summer so I'm hoping I can dump some of the work on them. Like the word “emailamos” – we’ll email… And the word “recycling” in Spanish, which I can’t even try to spell… but my best friend is a Spanglish speaking gal – so if you still want a sighted volunteer, I’m happy to help out… unless someone else offered off-line. Let me know, on or off list. For some of these I have indicated what I need for the books. For others I just need a sighted person to validate. * Ruby in the Smoke by Philip Pullman. I think there are a few hand-written letters I could use help with. * the Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz. I have optimized my scan but I am still getting funny-looking words so a sighted assistant in validating would be great. this won the Pulitzer prize this year for fiction. * Crocodile on the Sand bank by Elizabeth Peters. I need a few pages from this book. It is the first in the Amelia Peabody series. If you can help with these, please respond either onlist or privately at amber.wallens@xxxxxxxxx Thanks!
