They are talking about the books from O'Reilly publishing on various subjects relating to how to use computers and different software. They are very popular and widely respected.

I don't know, specificlly, what book and author you've
been asking about.

If it's the Rev. A.J. O'Reilly, and the book is
Alvira, anybody can download it, member or not, since
it's in the public domain. And I assume this is true
of all other public domain books on bookshare.

Just for fun, I put the title into google rather than
going directly through bookshare. Actually, since I'm
not a member, I could have done it that way. I opened
the bookshare site that had the book and downloaded
the book. It's now sitting on my desktop, though,
unless you want me to send it to you, smile--I'll
trash it, since I don't plan to read it. smile

So exactly what process does somebody go through to
download one of these
computer books? From what you say, anyone, citizen
of the US or not, have
to pay $75 registration fee and register. Am I
correct so far? Does
bookshare have a method in place allowing foreign
(non-US citizen)
registration?

If it does, I never knew about it and I am sure the
non-bookshare members
such as folks in Canada did not know either. Is it
explained somewhere on
the site? I admit to not having checked out the
site a lot in this regard.
(smile) Thanks.
