I just submitted Fer-De-Lance, the very first novel in the famous Nero Wolfe mystery series! My father started reading Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe stories when he was a young merchant marine in the 1940's. I caught the bug from him several decades later and have now passed it on to my wife, son, and others. The strength and wit of the key characters in these stories make them truly timeless. This book introduces Wolfe, Archie Goodwin, Fritz, Saul Panzer, and several of the other characters that are beloved by those who have read any of the seventy other stories in this series. Although it was published in 1934, Fer-De-Lance is as fresh and entertaining as it must have been to its first audience. And, as a bonus, golf fans will get interesting insights about how much technology has changed that sport in the past 70 years. It was wonderful to re-read this book as I was preparing it for submission. Hopefully some mystery-loving validator will enjoy it again as well. Jim Atwood
