I have just submitted Scales of Justice by Ngaio Marsh. I proofed it before submitting, so it needs little work. All page numbers have been moved to the tops of pages. As always, the synopsis doesn't do justice to the book. It is funnier and more suspenseful than the synopsis shows. Here it is, though. Just as Rose Cartarette and Dr. Lacklander decide to become engaged, Sir Harold Lacklander dies. He turns his revised memoirs over to Col. Cartarette on his deathbed. The Lacklander family is frantic to stop Col. Cartarette from publishing them, which he maintains he is honor- and duty-bound to do. He is stopped when he is found murdered. Chief Inspector Alleyn of Scotland Yard is called in to investigate. Suspects include George Lacklander, new head of the family, Octavius Danberry-Phinn, owner of many cats, who has had differences with the colonel over fishing rights leased from the Lacklander family, with whom Phinn also is not at ease, a retired Naval commander who gets drunk and indulges in archery, Kitty Cartarette, the wife of the colonel, and Lady Lacklander, whose shooting stick and rag with blood on it are found near the scene. I hope somebody enjoys it!
