Hi, Powell's books has an 800 number, so when I used them, I'd talk to a nice person on the phone and asked for a particular author. I'd make a charge on the debit card and they'd send the stuff to Bookshare. This bookstore is not a chain and is located in Oregon. I'd say their prices vary depending on how rare the book is but they make sure their books are in good condition. I've never had much luck finding what I'm looking for with powells--have you had good experiences finding cheap books through them, Kim? Judy s. I ask other volunteers if they can get the missing books from their libraries and scan them, since I can't scan, and I do the proofreading since that is something I can do. If no one can help out on a particular set of books, I haunt http://www.abebooks.com and http://www.alibris.com and http://www.biblio.com and http://www.half.com and http://www.amazon.com and ebay until used copies come up dirt cheap, and then I snap those up and send them in to bookshare to get scanned. It often takes many months for them to get scanned when you send them directly to Bookshare, but I know they'll get in the collection eventually that way. I also put books on the wishlist, but if they haven't been taken in 3 months then they usually aren't going to get done that way. Judy s. I'm a musician and if I hear a G7 chord, I naturally think there should be a C chord to finish it off (I prefer consonance over dissonance any day). I mention this because I was looking at the Bookshare collection at books by one Beverly Swerling's historical fiction series about New York City and books 2-4 are in the collection. Does anyone know if City of Dreams (book one of the series) will be added or not? Regards, Kim Friedman.
