I got a message from Nick on the K1000 list yesterday, telling me to get the
10.05 patch. He mentioned that there were four other patches that I needed to
download independently. I did get them, and while I don't remember the details
of the descriptions of all of them, one was an improvement in online service,
and another had something to do with the editor. I installed them safely, so
it is probably safe for you to do it. He did say that you have to download and
install them individually, so you have to load K1000 each time, go to alt-n
then u, download one patch, exit K1000, then the patch extracts and installs.
Then you gotta do the same thing three more times until you get them all. It
isn't actually that time-consuming, though, as tedious as it sounds. I was
able to get them all in just a few minutes. You can hear what the files are if
you listen as the files are extracted. Each one gives a brief description as
it unzips. You also get a text file with the 10.05 patch telling you all the
stuff they did in patches 10.01 through 04, but it sounds as though you already
have the 10.05 file..

  Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Kurzweil update question

  Hi all,
I just checked to see if there were any patches for Kurzweil that I hadn't
installed yet. I found four files, but they have very cryptic names. One is
kesi txt followed by a string of numbers. The others are scan if and numbers,
something srv and numbers, and something with sys and numbers. Can anyone tell
me what these updates are and what they're for? I can't look at the filenames,
so I can't get any clues on how the names are spelled or what the extensions
are.
With mixed curiosity and trepidation <grin>,
  Kellie
