One thing that keeps the step one list long is that
we're now limited to downloading only 5 books at a
time. Some of us used to take more--ones that we were
asked to do because we could get them from the
library, or were sighted and could handle specific
problems, like strange fonts or formatting, or had
special interest in. Though our piles were somewhat
large, the download list was shorter. Also, many of us
are careful and/or have long books to work on--I'm
almost finished with one that's over 800 pages--and
since we already have 5 books we can't take more.

As for getting more validators--When people request
books for the Wish List I ask if they're willing to
validate and tell them how to sign up. I don't know if
any have--I think only one person, maybe.

But advertising or posting on the 'Net I think is a
good idea. When I retired, I was looking on the 'Net
for volunteer opportunities, things that I could do
from home on the computer any time. At that time
bookshare wasn't listed, but Project Gutenberg was.
don't know if bookshare is listed now, but there are
several sites that list volunteer opportunities, e.g.,
volunteermatch.com

I just googled volunteer opportunities and online
volunteer oppportunities and saw a lot of sites but
none for bookshare.org.

Allison has some idea of finding volunteers, and any
of you who have high-school age kids who need service
credits, as many high schools are requiring now, might
organize a group the way Monica has.
