I only had a two day power outage. But then, I have the Appalachian mountains shielding me from most of the storm.

Greetings, all.

I have to make this quick because the power and Internet are both tenuous at best. We were without power for almost five days, then we had a day of power with a few brief interruptions, then a weekend of interruptions in power, and now we're having a snow storm/blizzard that is throwing everything back a few days' worth of progress. I am seeing some terrible things on the TV news and the radio about what an absolutely awful time some neighborhoods are having (the Jersey shore, Staten Island, Fire Island, etc.) and I count my blessings. We always had the generator on when we were/are/will be without power, so we have heat, lights, and enough power for my laptop. I didn't learn until four days in that the blue ray player was hooked up to the generator so that even though we had no cable TV, I could watch DVDs. So, I had lots of private concerts from my favorite rockers. And since I have the laptop, some light, and some books, I was still able to proofread, as I will hopefully be able to continue to do. The local library opened back up after being closed over a week (oh, horrors!).

I lost Internet all day today because of the snowstorm, I hope this message gets through. I just wanted everyone to know that we lucked out, we have always been and will hopefully remain warm and dry. Some very minor damage to the roof, but not enough to cause a leak or anything.

I do ask one favor: If anyone e-mailed me about a book or a request or anything at all, could you please send the message again, or tell me again what it was about? My Internet has been and remains very spotty, and I can't imagine all that I've missed that I need to know. Thanks for that, I appreciate it.

Really lucky on Long Island,
Marilyn
