Hi all,

Original message:

Hi, I'm proofreading a book called Regency Christmas Eve by Nancy Butler, Diane Farr, Allison Lane, Edith Layton, and Barbara Metzger. I'm having trouble in "The Gift of the Spoons" beginning on p. 147 (not counting prefatory material). I need to know for sure the male protagonist's last name. Is it Heme or Herne? If somebody can look at the text then I'd know for sure what is correct. Then I could do a find-and-replace for it. Regards and many thanks, Kim.

Kim, I don't have the book, but knowing that one of the more common scanos is to put an M for RN and sometimes in reverse, I'd tend twoard Herne. This is a last name which I have heard in other books. Is the guy Irish? No, Heme doesn't sound right somehow, not English or Irish. I could be wrong, but my vote's for Herne.
