Hi Booksharians,
I'm proofing books with many footnotes that must be converted from regular
print to superscript print per Bookshare rules (especially because Kurzweil
scans them in as regular text).
I've been doing this manually but after proofing a book with almost 1600
footnotes I've decided to reduce wear and tear on my hands by creating a
macro in MS Word to do the job with fewer finger-strokes. I probably will
creat two macros, one to do ten at a time and another to do one at a time.
I understand how to do the macro but wonder if any of you have advice as to
which key or key combinations I should assign the macro to in order not to
interfere either with Word or with JAWS. Maybe some of you have used Word
macros successfully and have some suggestions.
You may reply to me personally if you think this is too much clutter or too
technical for the list.

Amanda, can you address the following question? I wonder why there is the
requirement to convert footnotes from regular text to superscript text. I'm
happy to comply but wonder what might be the value in such work. Is this for
the benefit of sighted users? Or are there some machines on which one can
turn off the recognition of footnote numbers if one doesn't want to hear
their clutter in the text. Or is there some other reason. I'll be much
happier when I construct and use a macro to make these conversions.
