Hi Lissi, Just got back into town late yesterday afternoon from a short vacation. I think, but not sure because you are using Jaws, It is probably some type of formatting control character. In wordand win-eyes forinstance when I pass over a page break, or line break or a tab character I get the chime. So it could be any number of control characters, column-breaks or other such thing. Try searching for various things until the search puts you on your unknown target. The control-f followed by the alt-f will do the job nicely. All you need do is insert the proper search string into the control-f request field, carrot follow by either the m, n, l, b, p, or t. I can't think at this moment of any others. Good luck, and let me know what you find out. Tom

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] New Book, New Question

Dear Volunteers,

With 38 pages to go on my latest validation, I have a teensy question. I can finish without knowing the answer, but my curious nature is forcing me to ask.

As I'm listening to Jaws the RTF file as I work with Microsoft office word 2003, every several pages I hear a thunky tone, just one plunk which doesn't slow anything down, like tapping a tube of a wind chime which you are holding with the other hand so it won't vibrate very well. Since I can't identify why the bung sounded and don't notice any problems in the book, I'm going ahead, but won't get it out of my head until I learn what causes it.

Thanks in advance for any explanations you may have.

Always with love,

Lissi
