What kind of machine and what screen access program/version?
What kind of dvd player?
Have you checked on the availability of new drivers, and, out of curiosity,
have you tried to see if an external player would give you the same problems?
I'm afraid that it's either that you have an unusual drive, in which case
another drive would work fine, or perhaps it's an update issue.
Whatever I did, I wouldn't do it without backing up my machine first.

Unfortunately, It is the actual "drivers" of the DVD drive that my screen
reader seems to have a problem with.

Smile, not the software, I have used Power DVD and would love to just be
able to run DVDs off my PC, would save me a lot of frustration, but my tech
guy a user, says you really can't do that, because of what it does to the
screen reader, is a strange qwerk of my machine.

*Ponders* Others may have more information on this than I do, but I'll admit
that I play my DVDs on the computer, using any number of applications,
including Intervideo WinDVD player. I'd love to hear others' suggestions on
  this.

I do have a DVD player that connects to my TV as well. My first observation
was that the remotes are often designed very well, and you can tell the
arrow keys, the OK button, the numbers, readily by touch.

I've also learned that typically you can put the DVD in, and when it starts
playing music, press OK a couple of times. That will take you into the
feature presentation, but often, accessing the extras is difficult, which is
  why I prefer the computer.

If others have other suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them as well.

  Lora
