Hi Cindy,

I loved Campfire. Their philosophy allowed me to have boys and girls in the
same troupe, and we learned a lot as we began to accumulate badges. If I
had children of an interested age, I might run a Campfire troupe again. I
got our local elementary school to sponsor us, and we held meetings there,
and had an endless storehouse of supplies that the school let us use. And
many parents donated money to help us do things we wanted.

I was nervous at first, afraid that they wouldn't want to entrust me with
their children, but I never met a hostile parent or an unwilling Campfire
employee. We had a wonderful time. Kids between the ages of nine and ten
are wonderful; they're so eager to learn and do and explore.

Lora

One of my several jobs was as a Camp Fire District Director. I prefer the
Camp Fire philosophy to Girl Scouts, though I was a brownie and girl scout
myself growing up; when my children were young I was a Camp Fire leader
myself for a few years. smile You bring back fond memories.
