This if for those of you who were being unjustly
treated by the SS by having your benefits reduced or
stopped.

Appeal as far as you can.

You may remember that I had a similar problem, having
been told by SS that I had been overpaid and that I
had to pay thenm back several thousand dollars. After
first writing a letter and then going to the SS
office, I finally received a letter that informed me
that, even though I didn't take my retirement (which
was very small) I was supposed to report my
eligibility for it at the time I retired and thus get
less social security. Therefore, I owed them the money
I had been paid all that time.

Today I got a strange letter, and yesterday unexpected
money had been deposited into my checking account. The
letter from SS said that I had been underpaid several
thousand dollars, and that after the amount I had
overpaid had been deducted from that, I received about
$700, and my monthly would henceforth be slightly
larger than it had been.

I do not understand at all. About all I can figure is
that maybe they miscalculated how much I was allowed
in the first place. I'm sure glad I didn't write a
check for the amount I was supposed to pay them but
was going to have them deduct from my monthly payment.

I don't know if you all will have a positive result,
but you know the saying about a squeaky wheel, and
just fight for what you deserve. Maybe you'll get
it--or even get more. smile
