Fine Reader made by ABBY, will probably be your best bet. But cheap is $295
unfortunately.

The vision must be followed by the venture. It is not enough to
stare up the steps - we must step up the stairs.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] OT: options for OCR?

Hi everyone,

Apologies for the off topic. Please feel free to reply directly to me.

I'm looking for an alternative OCR option to Kurzweil. I have a copy of K1K,
but for long-winded reasons I need to find a simple, bare-bones program that
will turn a scanned image into text with as few frills as possible. Also, it
needs to work well with Jaws. Oh, and the word of the day is inexpensive, of
course. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Shayla
