I received a similar phone call and called back the 800 number to check. Doesn't it seem strange to you that you received a marketing company and not a police department or association? smile I didn't trust it. I did some googling. Yes, There are Police Benevolent Societies in almost every city. I found several that do solicit by mail but never by phone. If anyone gets such a phone call, he/she should as what specific PBA is requesting the donation and then should call that organizatioon the next day. Here are three statements from three different PBS Q: I got a phone call asking for a donation. Is this legit? A: The members of the Bay Head and Mantoloking Police Departments are represented by Local #347 of the New Jersey State Policemen's Benevolent Association. Our fundraising is done entirely by mail and we will never call by phone to solicit a donation. The phone solicitors do not represent our officers and any funds donated to these entities do not benefit the Bay Head/Mantoloking PBA. If you have any concerns, please call your local police department Phone Solicitors and Scams If you have received a phone call from a solicitor requesting donations on behalf of the Belleville P.B.A it is a FAKE.
