Thanks, Mayrie! I am so pleased that it will open documents and files, contrary to my older version of Word and Kurzweil. The files readily open, so that is a good start. I am doing this rather than downloading actual books and then having to release them if I am unsuccessful. Word is opening the RTF file, but I have a lot to learn about Word 2010 before I tackle actually proofreading a book. I do feel a sense of accomplishment at having successfully installed it.
