I really don't know what to say to this. Just because we haven't heard from
someone doesn't mean we assume them dead, or start trying to replace them.
Cindy is of great value within the bookshare community, and means a lot to many
of us.

I would think that if it was a hard drive crash that by now she would have
been able to find a computer in Los Angeles to tell us about it. When I had my
own hard drive crash she was helping me with a book I was proofreading and I
was able to contact her from a public library computer the same day. It is,
indeed, so out of character and so abrupt that I suspect that the explanation
is something catastrophic. I have even googled Los Angeles newspapers for a
possible obituary, but there is nothing so far. It might be a little early for
that though. Sometimes an obituary does not appear until weeks after the fact.
Searching only her name on Google news without the phrase Los Angeles brought
up only a few items about the mayor of Norman, Oklahoma. If Carrie's phone call
returns bad news or no results then I suppose we will have to learn to do
without her. Some of us might want to consider taking over some of her self
imposed duties like her various lists and the wish list.
