This won't help you as much as I wish simply because I'm not that computer savvy. However, I will tell you that I have been involved in the NLS DTB testing program and I would imagine that the process would be similar for unloading DAISY books from Bookshare. I simply download the book from the NLS DTB collection, then unzip its files with a select all. I unzip it right to my SD card and the card then goes into the Victor reader. At least in the NLS program, all files for a book need to be downloaded. I can't be of more help because I always download in BRF format from Bookshare but I hope this has been of some assistance to you. In return, would you please let me know where you ordered your Victor stream as a friend of mine wishes to do this. Thank you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "MissWings" <misswings@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Possibly off topic? Victor Stream and Bookshare.

Hi all.

Sorry if this is off topic, but since it involves Bookshare I thought I'd ask and see if anyone knows anything on the issue.

I just ordered myself the new Victor Reader Stream from HumanWare a few days ago, and was wondering how to put Daisy books from Bookshare onto it when I get it. I've tried downloading Daisy books once or twice, but when you unpack a Daisy book you get about three or four different files with different file extensions for the same book, which is one reason I've taken to downloading books in .brf and translating them into .txt format. That way I only download one file instead of about three or four, and .brf files are also smaller.

Anyway, just in case anyone has this player from Beta testing it or anything. how would I go about getting books from Bookshare onto the player? I know you have to put them onto the secure digital card, but do I just download the .bks file or which file should I put onto the player once the book is unpacked?

If I do end up downloading a Daisy book, I just keep the .xml file and it opens up in Internet Explorer. If anyone has any info on this issue I'd appreciate it. Thanks all.

MissWings
