The problem with that is that the list is too high traffic and so it is too
time consuming. The more people who are subscribed the higher the traffic would
be. Already, on several occasions, I have sat down for an evening of
proofreading and spent so much time reading email that I did not get around to
it.
There have been several group members who have unsubscribed either temporarily
or
long-term because of the traffic and I have considered it myself.

I've been giving this proofreading issue a lot of thought. I would think most
of the people on this list are dedicated, caring and loyal volunteers of
Bookshare.
Why else would we be on the list? To learn, to make our submissions, whether
they are scanning or proofreading, the best they can be.

My suggestion is that membership to the list be a prerequisite for
volunteering. That way, maybe the people who aren't reading would read these
messages.
I understand there are no guarantees, but at least there's the possibility.

I've learned a lot from the list, gotten some good ideas, skipped some that
didn't apply, saved many. I class the reading of this list as part of my
volunteer
time. If it were made mandatory for volunteers to be on the list, they may
not read it, but would at least have the material laid out for them.

Ideas? Comments?
