Hi, Aaron. I like your suggestion, or at least the theory behind it. Our pool of sighted volunteers is fairly small, and that's what would be needed for this project as you've described it. Bookshare would also need to build a system to let more than one volunteer work on a project. I do know that Bookshare is planning to spend more time on providing reference material as the education grant period matures. Jim touched on that briefly in his speech last November in the Friends Of Bookshare chat room. I imagine they would need to work on updating their daisy converter first since the converter they have right now wouldn't be of much help in creating a document with navigation struckture beyond the page level. Navigating a dictionary or encyclopedia by page only sounds like a recipe for frustration. I don't work for Bookshare, so what I'm writing here is only a somewhat educated guess. (smile) I do agree that we need access to good reference materials that we can use portably, especially when we're reading but can't go online. I'll be cheering when Bookshare finds a way to solve this puzzle. -- Monica Willyard Visit my blog at http://www.scannersguild.com To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
