The scanner sleeps after some time and that's what is probably happening.
You can go into the utilities for the scanner and change it but I haven't
done it. On the 3800, you can just press one of the round buttons on top and
that will wake the scanner up. I haven't seen the 3900 but assume it has the
buttons.

Hi, Folks,
I recently bought an Opticbook 3900, and I really like it.
However, it has one quirk. When I haven't used it for a while (no more than
30 minutes) the scanner disconnects; I hear the descending tone that a USB
Disconnect makes.
I have started simply turning off the scanner and turning it on before using
Openbook.
I just wonder if anyone with that scanner has encountered the same issue and
if there is something in settings to keep the disconnect from occurring.
