Hi Cindy,

I would think you're right if the photo was removed.

I don't think anything more is necessary; I can't remember if I finished my
mesage; what I wanted to way was that when I've proofed books in which the
picture or photo illustrated what the text said I didn't add anything; I
just put the word photo or illustration in brackets; and if the scanner put
photo removed I shouldn't think anything else would be necessary; in fact it
would be superfluous. If I'm wrong and people or Madeleine want a
description of the picture let me know and if I can get the book from the
library I'll write something and send it to you and you can insert the
description into your file.

ASctually, I wasn't suggesting that you put anything, just that you leave
what's there, as in my opinion what's there is probably describes what's in
the picture; if the text seems to explain what is in the picture then we
don't have to add anything, and I never had when I've proofed with pictures
and the text seemed to explain it; you can just ...did you say the scanner
wrote, in brackets, photo removed?

Hi, these were just the easy examples I provided. I know I can use
common sense and provide caption but you never know with the
authors/editors what they may put. I would hate to put something and
the next thing you know, bookshare gets a quality report that says
that the pictures are described wrong for their child/student. Then,
it shows in the record that I did it and I am not taking that. I
mean, don't get me wrong! I would hate for any child/student if they
read it with their sighted parents/teachers/peers or whatever may be
and the sighted person is like the pictures are wrong! I don't like
do that. Of course, if bookshare staff tell me to use common sense
then I would be fine doing that. Know what I mean? Hopefully...
Thanks,
Nimit, a little confused
