Hi all,

My reasons for rejecting a book are pretty much the same as Monica's. If there are no page breaks, or if there are multiple occurrences of garbled text or if there are more than a couple missing pages.

My reasons for releasing books are various. I've release books which I probably should have rejected, mostly because they had garbled text. I remember releasing one book because it was written by an author who felt it was her job to preach Christianity to me in glops and gobbets that were splattered all over the text of the book and destroyed the story. I don't mind a book where a character has a religious experience or what-not, but this lady started drilling about the first page and kept it up, page after page after page. I finally released the darned thing. I couldn't take it! Maybe that was selfish, but I got angrier and angrier the longer I read, and so I released the book so somebody who wasn't as affected could proof it.

I want to say here, in justification, that I dislike intensely any book where the author has an agenda. I don't want to be hit over the head with a point. I want to read a good story! That's why, for example, I quit reading Marion Zimmer Bradley's books. She's got an agenda, big-time. I've got nothing against folks who are gay, but I don't want to hear an author whining about her injustices and promoting her point. Yuck!
