The way Bookshare defines it is

If you can buy it in an adult bookstore, or in the restricted section of a
library then it is adult.

That is my philosophy, is why I didn't mark that book adult.

What defines adult content for bookshare?

I'm validating a book which that is all about pigeons, but it contains a
tiny
section with sentences containing adult profanity.
